Senior Staff & Governance
Our team of SEN qualified teachers at LVS Oxford have an excellent understanding of the nature of autism and its impact on effective learning.
Our independent SEN school is under the leadership of Ian Peters, Principal, and supported by Sarah Sherwood, Director of SEN for LVS Oxford and our sister school, LVS Hassocks.
Principal
Ian joined LVS Oxford in summer 2021, bringing over 20 years’ experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) education to the role.
Ian holds a Bachelor of Education from Canada and gained his Qualified Teacher Status at the University of Hertfordshire, going on to complete a National Professional Qualification in Headship in 2017.
His teaching career, which has been dedicated to supporting children with special educational needs, began with him building a science department in Buckinghamshire, focussed on enabling young people with autism and learning difficulties to succeed in their GCSEs. He has also worked with the Skills Builder partnership, to develop an employment skills framework linking learning to employability. This enables training for employers and educators in supporting young people with autism to achieve sustainable and meaningful employment.
Most recently, in his role at Buckinghamshire Council, Ian has been leading and training teachers, education psychologists and other professionals to support the achievement of young people with SEN.
Director of Special Educational Needs
Sarah works at both LVS Oxford and LVS Hassocks, where, with the Leadership Teams, she ensures that the schools are meeting the diverse needs of our pupils.
Our vision of academic achievement, employability and independent living requires a thorough assessment for new pupils, ensuring that the transition into LVS Oxford is as stress free for the individual as possible, and the necessary support is available from day one.
We congratulate Sarah on achieving her Doctorate in Education at the start of 2022 and give thanks to Sarah for her dedication to her role in our schools.
LVS Oxford is proud to be an employer that supports staff in their personal and career development.
