Blenheim Palace
The team at Blenheim Palace, situated in Woodstock just moments away from LVS Oxford, work closely with the school to provide students with the priceless opportunity to immerse themselves in the real world of work.
This year, Blenheim has gone one step further by offering school-leaver Zack, who has enjoyed two years’ work experience with Blenheim, their first full-time apprenticeship – a Level 2 in Customer Service course.
For students with autism, navigating workplace situations can be particularly challenging: disheartening statistics reveal that only 22% of autistic individuals aged 18 to 25 years old are employed.
Speaking about Zack, Eleanor Paice, Guest Services Manager at Blenheim, says: “It has really been a joy to see him grow in confidence since starting his work experience with us.
This is one of the most wonderful and rewarding things about working with LVS, providing work experience for their students, to see them progress, grow and help mould them into the people they are becoming.
It’s amazing to think we are making such a positive impact in someone’s life and helping to break down any barriers that may have been created for them.”
“Organisations like Blenheim play a pivotal role in championing inclusion and diversity within their workplace, creating an environment where our students can gain invaluable skills,”
Melanie Waller, Vice Principal & Safeguarding Lead at LVS Oxford.
LVS Oxford’s Melanie continues: “Blenheim has demonstrated a remarkable dedication to our students, understanding the unique difficulties and barriers they may encounter. Through this understanding, they’ve actively facilitated our students’ skill development, empowering them to overcome challenges and become more confident in a professional setting.
“Blenheim’s support has not only made a significant impact on our students’ lives but also exemplifies the positive change that organisations can bring about when they prioritise inclusivity and embrace the unique strengths and talents of all individuals.”
The magnificent Blenheim Palace, near Oxford, situated in parkland landscaped by Capacity Brown is the only non-royal, non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace. Home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family, Blenheim is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, providing visitors with 2,000 acres of parkland, 90 acres of award-winning formal gardens and “awe-inspiring experience for visitors”, according to reviews.
